Greetings Blue Edge Member, Guests, Coaches and Friends!
The 2023-24 skating season was our most successful season yet since the Club’s move to the M&T Bank Arena on the York Hill Campus of Quinnipiac University in 2021. Our programs drew increased numbers of skaters along with parents, families, and volunteers who added to the enthusiasm and joy of skating.
Of note this season:
· Basic membership – 95; Advanced membership – 67; Associate membership – 20; with a Total membership of 182.
· Our Learn to Skate continued to grow throughout the season with a strong component of adult skaters. Junior and board member volunteers supported a low student/teacher ratio.
· Two skating shows/exhibitions celebrated skaters love of skating and displayed increased technical ability in the spring show.
· The Winter Classic Basic Skills Competition challenged youngest skaters to experience an entry-level competitive experience in a supportive setting.
· Consistent high quality coaching was provided by experienced veteran coaches and junior coaches who continue to compete and perform.
· Specialty classes in skating skills and dance offered additional opportunities beyond Learn to Skate.
· Two test sessions gave skaters a chance to test their skills in front of a USFS judge.
· The arena has continued to provide quality ice conditions, a vibrant sound system and large, comfortable locker rooms.
As we grow and thrive, our Club continues to need volunteers to support the Board’s efforts to maintain and improve high quality programming. Please considering offering to help at any of our special events or during regular program sessions.
Due to the Club successes this year we are now able to consider adding additional ice time next skating season. Please continue to check our website, Facebook page and EntryEeze messages for information about new programming later this summer.
In the meantime, we hope you can find a nice cool rink for some summer skating!
Yours,
Nancy Brittingham, President
Blue Edge FSC of CT
