Message from the Club President (May 2021)

Greetings Blue Edge Skaters, Families, and Friends, Yes, our new name does take some getting used to, but we think that you will come to like its sound, as I have, over time. A special meeting of the membership was held on May 2, 2021, at which time the Yale Figure Skating Club bylaws were amended as the bylaws of Blue Edge Figure Skating Club of Connecticut. A copy of these amended bylaws have been submitted to U.S. Figure Skating and they have approved the new name. We are waiting for approval of our name change from the CT Secretary of State. Your Board was in the process of negotiating with Quinnipiac University to use the People’s United Center as our new home rink when the pandemic struck in March 2020. We are hoping to resume those talks as the pandemic restrictions ease and the University once again permits guests on their campus. While we are currently not able to offer our skating program, we continue to offer full membership to Blue Edge that includes annual USFS membership. Skaters who wish to test or compete this summer, must keep their USFS membership current. Your Board of Directors has continued to work on other Club activities and has decided to use the online management system Entryeeze for handling memberships, enrollments and payments. We hope to have this up and running in time for June, 2021-22 membership renewals. We will email you soon about our new website which will have information on how to use and access our EntryEeze page. According to our bylaws, nominations and elections to the Board of Directors are held every two years. This year, Nancy Harrington, vice president, has been appointed chair of the nominating committee. Suggestions for individuals to be considered for nomination as Directors may be submitted to the committee by emailing Nancy Harrington. Our Annual Meeting is scheduled for Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 3:00PM via Zoom. An agenda for that meeting and the slate of nominees shall be announced prior to the meeting.
